Dear all,

President of your association SIMA is in receipt of a letter No. D.O.No. 3601/DG&CEO/IICA/2019 dated 29/03/2019 from Dr. Sameer Sharma, D.Litt, Director General & Chief Executive Officer, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India. The scanned copy of the letter is enclosed herewith for your ready reference.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sector is one of the fastest growing industrial sectors in the world economy, which plays a key role in economic development. The emergence of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) over the past decade quickly gave rise to the expectation that SMEs would tackle some of the world’s most pressing economic, social and environmental problems.

Several SMEs have to spend amount mandated amount under CSR. However, the small size of the fund available with SMEs and lack of capacity to conceptualize and implement projects is a major barrier identified by the IICA. In order to address this gap, the IICA provides handholding support to SMEs at affordable rates.

In view of the above, IICA shall help to identify co-operation possibilities with the our SMEs members, and will ensure that the CSR mandate is fulfilled as set out in Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013.

For CSR related queries/help, colleague industries may contact IICA for designing new policies/revision of existing CSR policies, preparation of projects based on CSR policies, real time evaluation of on-going projects, etc.

Thanking you,
With regards,
