Inviting Comments Suggestions on Draft Optical Fibre Cable Quality Control
Dear Members,
We wish to inform you that the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India has issued the Draft Optical Fibre Cable (Quality Control) Order, 2026.
Key Highlights of the Draft QCO:
1. Mandatory Compliance: All Optical Fibre Cables shall conform to the specified Indian Standards and bear the ISI Mark under License from BIS.
2. Effective Date: The Order shall come into force after 6 months from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
3. Scope: Applicable to Manufacturers, Importers and Sellers of Optical Fibre Cables in India.
4. Objective: To ensure quality, safety and reliability of Optical Fibre Cable products used in telecom infrastructure.
The Department has invited comments/suggestions from stakeholders on the draft QCO.
Request to Members:
All manufacturers, traders and importers of Optical Fibre Cables are requested to go through the draft QCO and share your feedback/comments with SIMA office by 20th August 2026. We will compile and submit a consolidated representation to the Department of Telecommunications.
