World Environment Day 2026, appeal for active participation in Mega Plantation Drive
Dear all,
We are forwarding herewith a circular issued by the Deputy Conservator of Forests (Territorial), Silvassa, dated 30 May 2026, regarding the Mass Mobilization for the Mega Tree Plantation Drive under the “1 Lakh Saplings” Campaign to be launched on the occasion of World Environment Day 2026.
As part of this significant environmental initiative and in view of the upcoming VVIP visit to Daman, the UT Administration of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu has approved a large-scale plantation drive across the Union Territory. The campaign aligns with the national initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” and supports broader Sustainable Development Goals focused on environmental conservation and sustainable development.
All member industries are encouraged to actively participate in this noble cause by identifying suitable plantation sites within their premises and surrounding areas. Industries may also consider utilizing their CSR initiatives to develop green belts, high-density micro forests, and roadside plantations to enhance the local environment and contribute towards reducing industrial emissions.
The Forest Department will provide saplings, technical guidance, and species-selection support through its nurseries located at Falandi, Rudana, Surangi, Vasona, and Jampore.
We request all member industries to extend their wholehearted support and make this campaign a grand success. Your participation will contribute significantly towards creating a greener and more sustainable future for our Union Territory.
