This is to inform you that the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a notification regarding “Analogue Paneer”.

As per the notification, any product that resembles paneer but is made using milk fat substitutes, vegetable oils, or other non-dairy ingredients cannot be labeled, marketed, or sold as “Paneer”. Such products must be clearly labeled as “Analogue Paneer” with proper declaration of ingredients on the label.

Key Points for Compliance:

1.  Product Name: Products not made entirely from milk/milk solids shall not use the term “Paneer”. Use “Analogue Paneer” only.

2.  Labeling: Clear declaration of ingredients, including vegetable fat/oil used, is mandatory.

3.  Packaging: Front-of-pack labeling should not mislead consumers.

4.  Applicability: All manufacturers, repackers, and sellers of dairy and dairy-analogue products.

All members engaged in manufacturing, packing, or trading of paneer and related products are requested to review their product labels and ensure compliance immediately to avoid any regulatory action.
