Your association SIMA is forwarding herewith a D.O. No. 40-3/2020-DM-I (A), dated 27/12/2021, issued by the Ajay Bhalla (IAS), Home Secretary, Government of India, New Delhi.
Vide the DO letter, the country has witnessed an overall decline in active cases. However, the new variant, Omicron (designated as a VoC by the WHO on 26th November 2021), is reported to be at least 3 times more transmissible than the Delta VoC, and is posing a new challenge for the COVID containment measures. In the countries with Omicron-driven surge, the growth trajectory of cases has been very steep. In our country, 578 Omicron cases have already been reported in 19 States/UTs.
